The general threat landscape for European organizations is changing. It is continuously getting more difficult to differentiate between friends or foes. In earlier days it was easier: hackers or online-criminals were on the dark side, we and our allies were the good guys.
But, as recent discoverys related to PRISM and co. brought to light, even our allies sometimes might operate on the dark side. European organizations have to start to reconsider their up-to-now trusted relationships. It might be the right time to start initiatives to enforce an Euopean Information Technology Industry operating solely under regulations of the European Union. Have we just experienced the required trigger to emancipate ourselfs from a US-dominated Information Technology industry? What steps should be taken to succeed?

In 2001, Mr. Reisinger founded base-camp GmbH in Austria, which has been developed into one of the leading IT-Security companies of Austria with focus on penetration testing, security consulting and security solutions. In 2011 he founded a spin-off named RadarServices GmbH which addresses the typical shortcomings of penetration testing by providing ongoing IT-risk management and by providing daily updates of the risk landscapes of organizations. RadarServices is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, with representative offices in Poland, Germany, Russia and soon to come United Arab Emirates.

Harald Reisinger studied international economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, USA.
